Security Industry
A warning for security contractors – if you thought it was hard now, think again!I
If you thought the current award conditions were unreasonable or unworkable, wait until you see what is coming for 1st January 2010. Click here to see a brief list of the horror conditions, but standby for additional penalty rates and increased loadings.
What Can You Do?
Option 1: You can do a Collective Agreement. In general you won’t be able to improve much on current conditions under the Award – however; you will be able to lock those terms in for another 5 years. The Modern Award and its draconian conditions then do not have an effect on your business.
Option 2: Professional Employment Organisation. Outsource your HR, reduce your labour costs and reap the benefits.
Why Now?
Currently, it is taking over 12 months for some agreements to be passed by the Workplace Authority. Since a Collective Agreement isn’t operational until after it’s approved, the business is subject to the Award until the agreement is approved.
So, the longer the delay, the longer the wait to get your agreement approved. If it’s not approved by 1st January 2010, the Modern Award (and it’s huge penalty rates) will apply until the Collective Agreement is approved. So every month you wait is another month past March 2010 you will have to pay the penalty rates.
Adding to that, from the 1st July 2009, the Fair Work Bill commences, so there will be further complications in creating the Collective Agreement if you don’t act now. Your business will be stung by the major consequences! SO DON’T DELAY!
How Much Does It All Cost?
Provided you act before the 1st March 2009, it’s $800 plus GST for the standard Collective Agreement.
For that, we walk you through the on-site process and lodge the agreement for you. A fee for time schedule will apply for non-standard changes and site visits.

What’s the cost of non-compliance in the security industry? It could mean as much as losing your business if you don’t get it right.
Our clients in the Security Industry use our services to help ensure that they are compliant in at least one area of their business – employing staff. It’s efficient, effective, and allows a flat rate of pay 24/7/52. Plus, as we are a licensed security provider, we already employ many security staff for other QLD security providers.
After the Workplace Ombudsman has recently undertaken a large compliance campaign in SE QLD, it’s apparent that with all the compliance issues to be dealt with, IR and payroll has fallen down the list.
Don’t let your business be the next fined by the Workplace Ombudsman – contact us now or phone 1300 766 380 to see how we can help you reduce your labour costs and run more effectively.
